We are ready to learn!

This week we discussed how to be ready to learn and the routines of the classroom.  We are using this anchor chart as a visual reminder of how to show we are ready to learn.
We have been reading books, singing counting songs, and reciting nursery rhymes.  Here are some of the books we have read this week:

We have started talking about strategies for counting.  We can point to each object or we can mark each object as we count so that we don't miss any.  We are learning to show a number in different ways: counters, numerals, drawings, and objects.

We are also learning about our names and our friend's names.  This will help us create our classroom family and develop letter sense.

I am hoping to see you all at Open House.  There will be two sessions, 6:30  or 7:05.  You can choose which one you would like to attend.  We will be going over a typical day in kindergarten and programs we are using.  The night is intended for adults, but if you don't have a sitter, please feel free to bring your child.

I am looking forward to a great year with you and your children.  Please contact me with any questions you may have.
