Playdates in Readers Workshop

We celebrated the Earth this week by learning about ways that we can keep the Earth safe.  We are also learning the continents with this fun song.

We learned that millions of years ago the continents made one giant continent called Pangea.
This week we practiced having fun with books by having playdates.  During playdates, the partners play games with books, act out stories, and play school.  We were focusing on fiction this week.  We also have been practicing telling about the characters, settings, beginning, middle, and end.  Next week we will look at nonfiction books and how to have playdates with them.

In math, we are practicing counting to 100.  We are counting by ones and tens to 100.  We are learning to find patterns on a hundred chart.  We are using words like row, column, decade numbers, ones place, and tens place.  We also started a tally chart to keep track of the Red Sox wins and losses.
