This week we had so much in Wonderland this week! We started with a play by the Hampstead Players about Alice in Wonderland. There were two actors. One played Alice and the other played all the other characters. Wednesday we had three celebrity readers. The first was Mrs. Saucier from West Running Brook Middle School. She read
The Day The Crayons Quit. Next, Mrs. Mullaney from Grinnell read us
Brontorina. Finally, Detective Doyle from the Derry Police Department read us
If You Give a Moose a Muffin. I heard that he already has our thank you notes on display in his office. On Thursday, we had a tea party with Mrs. Shelby's class. She brought in REAL tea cups for us to use. It was adorable! We decorated our door with nonsense words. Each child imagined a nonsensical creature and drew it. We also have an army of card soldiers.
In Readers Workshop, we are learning to be Avid Readers. We are trying to read a lot, read everywhere, read with your partner, and just enjoy reading.
In math, we are learning to count to 100. We are finding patterns in the hundred chart by looking at the ones and the tens. We are also learning to count by tens or by decades.
Some of the books we read this week are:
