We have started Readers Workshop. We are learning the routines and expectations of Workshop. We learned about the roles of the author and the illustrator. We know that if we find authors and illustrators that we like, we can find more books to read and enjoy! Here are some of the charts we are using to remember our learning:


.In Math, we have been learning how to use our math toolkits to solve problems, talk about our thinking in math rather than just saying the answer, and practicing with the numbers 1-3. We also sing songs to practice math skills like "5 Little Ducks," "5 Little Monkeys," and "Countdown to Blast Off."
Our Word Study has been fun with songs to practice naming and recognizing letters and letter sounds. Songs include "Marching Around the Alphabet" and "Letter Tales." We are using our Fundations Student Notebooks to practice letter recognition and letter formation. We are also using white boards.
We have been reading LOTS of books. When we read, we think about how the pictures add to the story, we remember the words that the author uses, and we have fun with books. Here are some of the books that we have read so far:
