Happy St. Patrick's Day and Spring!


These past two weeks we celebrated the first day of spring and St. Patrick's Day.  We are planning on going on a listening walk to hear the sounds of spring, if it ever feels like spring outside!  The students are very excited for it.

In Readers Workshop, we finished our nonfiction reading unit.  We learned how nonfiction authors and illustrators use text features to teach us new things.  We read a nonfiction book and wrote about it.  Then we shared our learning and thinking with second graders.

In Writers Workshop, we are continuing to write How To books.  We are trying to add our own nonfiction text features to help the readers of our books.

In math, we are working on counting with teen numbers.  We are trying to count accurately and solve problems with reasoning.  This can be a tricky skill for kindergarteners, but we are persevering.
