Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss!

This week we got tongue tied reading Dr. Seuss books.  We practiced our rhymes, tried green eggs and ham, and got presents.  Some of the Dr. Seuss books we read include:

In Readers Workshop, we are learning about Nonfiction books.  We are able to identify nonfiction v. fiction books, decide what the author is teaching us about, locate new information, and give a nonfiction book a new name.  I found a great series of nonfiction books at Barnes and Noble.  They are written at a kindergarten level and have great photographs.  We have read the following:

See the Cactus  Birds  I See You, Bird!  Peas Grow Up

In Math, we are learning to count and write numbers to 20.  We are recognizing that teen numbers have a group of ten and some more.

Thanks for all your support!  We are learning so much in kindergarten, and I know you are encouraging your child at home!
