We have finished another busy two weeks in kindergarten. The kindergarteners are so good at following the routine now. They are becoming more independent at using the bathroom, starting their work, packing up their backpack, cleaning their area, and eating their snacks. I am so proud of them their effort.
Last week, we had our first PIE Awards Ceremony. The whole school goes into the gym and each teacher gives out three awards. The first is for Positive Attitude, the second is for Improvement, and the third is for Effort. This Ceremony takes place once a month. The kindergarteners were good sports-nobody cried when they didn't get an award. They are already excited for the next one!
In Readers Workshop, we have been working on rereading the same story. We reread for many reasons. Here is the list that we have so far:
In Math, we have been learning to compare numbers. We use the words equal, greater than, and less than. We can compare by matching objects or counting. You can practice this at home by asking questions at the dinner table. Here are some examples: Do you have a greater number of chicken nuggets or french fries? How do you know? Which slice of pizza has less pepperoni than the other? How do you know? How can we make the number of green beans on each place equal?
Our sight word list includes is, the, can like.
Here are our new letters from Fundations:
.We noticed that some cards are pink and some are yellow. We are learning that the yellow ones are consonants and the pink ones are vowels. Vowels are in every word to help the letters stick together.
